National Championship is an annual event in Australia for target shooting. It is an event that is highly competitive and always has high expectations.
It is an event to look forward to as it has a high range of activities, the participants are also highly skilled and have exhibited a high rate of skilfulness and talent to represent their consistency at the national championship. The event is always thrilling to look forward to as it showcases talent in Australia. The national championship of target shooting is a pride of Australia.
There are basically 5 types of matches that take place during the national championship They are:
- ISSF
- PA Matches
- WA 1500 Match
- Metallic Silhouette
- Action Pistol
Entry to the national championship is backed by being a registered member of Pistol Australia or its affiliate. Any individual that wishes to participate in the national championship has to go through the process of obtaining an entry form for the competition.
Transport of Firearms
Certain rules guide the conduct of participants and officials during the period of the national championship.
- Every competitor that wants to partake in the competition must be current financial members of Pistol Australia and possess a current membership card that shows affiliation to a state body.
- For entries to be granted there has to be full payment of all financial obligation.
- Phone entries will not be accepted.
- Pistol licences or permits, and Pistol Australia holster proficiency cards are required to be checked at Equipment Control centre.
- Pistol licences are expected to be checked on each range each day according to the Legislation of the State/Territory. Lack of license can prevent a participant from partaking in the competition.
- Participating athletes are expected to sign the Range Register on each range each day.
- The visitor’s book, which will be situated at strategic locations and must be signed by all officials and visitors each day.
- The rules for ISSF and Pistol Australia will be followed as much as possible.
- Ties at the ISSF matches without Finals will be broken by X count.
- Maximum level of protection are expected from all competitors, officials, Protection should include wearing appropriate eye and ear protection and enclosed footwear while on any range when specified.
- Choice of clothing for competitors does not permit wearing tank tops, garments or other loose-fitting clothes.
- Firearms and gun boxes must never be left unattended to anywhere on the facilities.
- Competitors are not allowed to go in into the club rooms with handguns and other equipment.
- There are variations to ammunition permitted, Plated; copper washed; lead and lead-coated ammunition is permitted while jacketed ammunition is not permitted.
- Firearms should only be worked on at the shooting line at the instruction of the directing Range Officer. Firearms are not permitted behind the firing line, except on Range
- Only safe areas are designated for the handling of uncased firearms.
- Ammunition is not permitted in any zone of the Safe Area.
- All mobile devices must be turned off or set to flight mode, before entering any ranges.
