Sanctioning

Open competition needs to be sanctioned and certified as being credible. For competitions to be recognised as a sanctioned competition, it needs to be approved by Pistol Australia making it a valid national team qualifier. Some requirements need to be met before a competition can be sanctioned.

  • The competition has to be conducted by a target shooting club affiliated to Pistol Australia. Only clubs that are registered with Pistol Australia are allowed to conduct competitions and it has to be for registered members alone.
  • The sole right of sanctioning a competition belongs to Pistol Australia. The competition is granted only by Pistol Australia and not in conjunction with other organization
  • Approval must be received ahead of the competition. This is an important requirement for competitions to be sanctioned, both the sanction and approval must be given directly by Pistol Australia or an Affiliate.
  • The schedule of event for the target shooting competition has to be included in the approved calendar of either Pistol Australia or an affiliate organization
  • For a competition to be sanctioned, entry form to the event must be circulated within reasonable time before the competition, the competition has to be squadded with an official set of results produced after the event.
  • A judge has to be in attendance to oversee the competition and certify results released. The judge has to be recognised by Pistol Australia. The role of the judge is to ensure the standard of the event and that all official conduct is observed.
  • The judge is also required to sign a match report that guarantee that all standard requirements are met by the match organisers.
  • Inspection of ranges and equipment must be done and timed by the judge before the commencement of the match, and also subsequently for multi-day matches. The inspection of range and equipment is officially recorded.

Judge’s Report

For every target shooting competition carried out, a judge report is expected to back up the event to guarantee sanctioning of the event. The final score results compiled for the competition has to also be certified by the officiating judge for the event.

Ammunition Testing Result

There are certain competitions that require the testing of ammunition onsite, the ammunition testing result for applicable competitions have to included and submitted to get a sanctioning for the event. Other forms of reports such as the range calibration report are considered part of the requirement.

Copies of any written protest

In the event whereby there is a dispute as regards the result of a target shooting competition, copies of such written protest and the decision made has to be submitted.

All post-match results and reports are expected to be sent to the relevant Pistol Australia State/Territory Association, the National Referee Council Director, and the National Discipline Director.
