National Junior Camp

The National Junior Camp is also a part of Pistol Australia, the junior camp is focused on giving advanced training to young shooters to help develop their technical skills, mental and physical fitness. The national junior camp work in different aspect of the development of the junior shooters to improve their performances in competitions and advance to different stages.

The major aim of the national junio9r camp is to:

  • Establish and develop basic shooting techniques
  • Evaluate the performance of junior shooters and strategize ways of improvement
  • Develop team spirit among individuals and the team
  • Encourage growth and development of individual’s potential
  • Focus on achieving short, intermediate and long-term goals of young shooters.

Junior Camp Attendees

In a bid to further support and develop target shooting, Pistol Australia funds a total of sixteen junior members to attend the camp per season. Each State/Territory Association is required to nominate a candidate for participation, in the event whereby a State/Territory Association does not nominate a candidate, other associations are to nominate an additional junior to participate.

The camp is strictly made for the advancement of the technical skills of junior members, and it is not open to participation for higher members.

Transport of Firearms

Firearms that belong to junior members are to be transported to the junior camp by their respective States/Territory. The responsibility of transporting the firearms to the camp belongs to each State/Territory. The transport of firearms in Australia is subjected to various policies, most especially from airlines, each association is expected to be familiar with the policies and certify all requirement.

Most airlines require a Pistol Australia member or an adult with a valid firearm licence to check in the guns at the point of departure and a certified Pistol Australia member as well to collect the firearms as well at the point of arrival.

Code of Conduct

There are set of rules referred to as code of conducts at the National Junior Camp, the code of conduct is a major condition for entry and staying at the camp. The code follows thus:

  • Participants are expected to abide by the rules of target pistol shooting, especially the rules that concern safety.
  • The rights of every participant have to be respected.
  • Each participant bear responsibility for action either on or off the range.
  • Every junior shooter is expected to remain at the camp complex during the period of training except with prior approval from a camp official.
  • Be responsible for the organization of accommodation, and keep it tidy at all times
  • Have a total commitment to the training activities and comply with the program schedule provided by camp officials.

Breach of Conduct

Participants of the junior camp can be required to leave the camp if the code of conducts is broken. Further action might also be taken against such participant depending on the severity of the breach.
